Macromorphology

Description
The Serbian spruce is an evergreen tree 8-20 m tall, or even 50 m; the crown is very narrowly conical. Needles are basally truncated and horizontally compressed in two sides. Their lower surface has two prominent, white stomatal bands of 4-6 lines each, giving the tree a silvery sheen. Female cones are produced at the top of the crown and are first erect, then develop a pendulous dark bluish-violet ovoid-oblong cone.
