Sample note
The plant material was collected from Pandukholi Forest, Almora, Uttarakhand (India), and identified according to the Flora of District Garhwal, North-West Himalaya, the Forest Flora of Kumaon. A voucher specimen of B. petiolaris, KRA 24410, was deposited in the departmental Herbarium of CDRI. Each part of the plant (fruit, leaf, root and stem) was washed thoroughly under tap water and dried at room temperature.

Detection note
The MS/MS spectrum of peak 31 was characterized by the presence of only two major peaks corresponding to loss of CH3 followed by the loss of CO. Therewas no successive loss of two CH3 groups, thereby showing the absence of vicinal methoxy groups at positions 9 and 10; thus, the component was tentatively identified as thalifendine. The relative intensities (%) of the fragments were, 307.0833 (100), 279.0888 (16) and 250.0833 (5).
