The authenticity of Rhamnus nipalensis was verified by Prof. NK Dubey of the Department of Botany, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. A specimen voucher of the plant is kept in the Department.

Detection note
The molecular ion peat at m/z was 418 [M]+, and a significant ion peak at m/z 256 due to loss of the glucose unit (162), which further gets fragmented into two halves giving rise to ions m/z 137 and 120. Acid hydrolysis furnished the aglycone, by spectral data as liquiritigenin.
